PENNSYLVANIA — A 46-year-old man was killed Monday afternoon after being hit by a vehicle while checking a mechanical issue on the side of a busy road, authorities said.
According to Washington County Coroner Tim Warco, the victim, identified as Brian Everhart, had parked a commercial truck on the entrance ramp from U.S. 22 to I-576, just to the right of the fog line, when he was struck.
Warco said Everhart had pulled over to inspect a problem with the truck at the time of the crash.
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission confirmed that the scene was cleared and the ramp was reopened to traffic by 6:30 p.m.
