HACKENSACK, N.J. — Authorities are investigating a “suspicious” fire that destroyed several police vehicles at an overflow parking area used by the Hackensack Police Department, officials confirmed.
The fire broke out around 8 p.m. Saturday at the Trinity Place parking lot, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office. Multiple unoccupied police cruisers were parked when the blaze began.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Investigators are treating the incident as suspicious and have launched a probe to determine the cause.
This comes just months after a June incident in Brooklyn, where eight police cruisers were deliberately set on fire inside a locked parking lot. The suspected arsonist in that case was arrested later that month.
Authorities have not yet confirmed if the Hackensack fire may be connected to any other incidents.
