In Pennsauken, New Jersey, volunteers joined first responders to place American flags on the lawn at the 9/11 Memorial.

“We’re able to come here as a community, gather as a community, unite in remembrance, and really honor those who lost their lives in the 9/11 terror attack, and pay tribute to survivors and all our brave and dedicated first responders,” said Pennsauken Mayor Nicole Roberts.

In Philadelphia, a procession from the Fireman’s Museum led to the Betsy Ross House for a remembrance ceremony.

Lower Makefield Township also held a ceremony at the Garden of Reflection, honoring the 18 Bucks County residents who lost their lives that day.

In Sewell, Boy Scout Troop 57 placed 2,977 American flags on the lawn of McGuinness Funeral Home, representing every life lost on 9/11. The flags will remain through next Wednesday.

Troop member Michael Kushner said the display is intended to educate young people about the tragedy and its aftermath.

“We help them understand what exactly happened and how we pulled through as a country as Americans and helped deliver a positive message in a tragic situation,” he said.
