A New Jersey nurse, Lexi Kuenzle, 33, has filed a lawsuit against Englewood Health, Dr. Matthew Jung, and others, claiming retaliation after reporting that Dr. Jung allegedly “cheered and celebrated” the assassination of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk. The incident reportedly occurred “in front of patients and staff.” (Fox News)
Kuenzle’s attorney, John Coyle, said she questioned how the doctor could uphold the Hippocratic Oath and AMA ethics while celebrating the killing of a non-violent speaker. Following her complaint and social media posts about the incident, Kuenzle claims she was suspended without pay and later told she would be fired.
The hospital stated both the doctor and nurse were placed on suspension “to allow time for a thorough and fair investigation” and denied that Kuenzle had been fired.
The lawsuit alleges violations of the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination, retaliation under the Conscientious Employee Protection Act, and the creation of a hostile work environment. Kuenzle is seeking a jury trial and unspecified monetary damages.
As of September 14, 2025, Dr. Jung was no longer listed on Englewood Health’s website.
