INDIANAPOLIS — Authorities are investigating the death of a 26-year-old man who was found unresponsive at the Marion County Adult Detention Center and later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Frank Lambert was discovered unresponsive around 6:17 a.m. on August 25. The release did not specify how or by whom he was found.
On-site medical staff provided aid until paramedics arrived. Lambert was transported to Eskenazi Hospital, where he was pronounced dead several hours later.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office Internal Affairs Unit are conducting an independent investigation, which is standard procedure. The Marion County Coroner’s Office will determine the official cause of death.
Lambert had been held at the detention center since July.

Additionally, the estate of Richard Goode has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and medical staff. The suit alleges officials were aware of Goode’s substance abuse issues but failed to provide proper treatment. According to the filing on August 4, 2025, Goode was reportedly in an active overdose for hours before receiving medical assistance.
