SCOTT COUNTY, Iowa — Jamison Fisher, the man recently indicted in connection with the Trudy Appleby murder case, has pleaded not guilty to unrelated drug charges in Scott County.
Fisher, 50, faces two counts of possession with intent to deliver — one involving methamphetamine and the other marijuana. A pretrial conference in the drug case is scheduled for October 3.
Connection to Trudy Appleby Case
Authorities previously announced that Fisher was indicted earlier this month in Henry County, Illinois, in connection with the 1996 disappearance and presumed death of Trudy Appleby.
He faces:
-
Three counts of first-degree murder
-
One count of concealment of a homicidal death
Fisher remains in custody at the Scott County Jail while legal proceedings move forward.
Extradition Process Underway
According to court documents, Fisher refused to waive extradition to Illinois during an appearance before a magistrate on August 26. The court then issued a warrant committing him to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office for 30 days while Illinois authorities pursue extradition through the governor’s office.
As of August 26, no extradition hearing date had been set. However, a judge granted a motion last week to allow Fisher’s release in the drug case so Illinois officials could eventually take custody of him and move forward with the Appleby murder trial.
