WAYNE, N.J. — A confrontation turned violent Sunday night when a man allegedly pulled a knife during a dispute on Riverside Drive, according to Wayne Police Detective Captain Dan Daly.
The incident occurred around 7:34 p.m. on Aug. 24 after a resident refused to let his daughter leave with occupants of a suspect vehicle. When the car arrived to pick her up, 29-year-old Kriss Rodriguez of Passaic allegedly got out, pulled a knife, and threatened the girl’s father, Daly said.
Officer Spencer Schoonmaker intercepted the fleeing vehicle as it entered Route 80 East. The three occupants admitted they were coming from Riverside Drive.
Police recovered the knife from the glove compartment of the car. Rodriguez was arrested and charged with:
-
Possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose
-
Unlawful possession of a weapon
-
Aggravated assault
-
Terroristic threats
Authorities said Rodriguez also had outstanding criminal and traffic warrants in other jurisdictions. He was taken to the Passaic County Jail Intake Hub and is awaiting a detention hearing.
